Revelation of John 21:2-27

2And I saw athe holy city, bnew Jerusalem, ccoming down out of heaven from God, dprepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, ethe tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will fdwell among them, and they shall be His

One early ms adds, as their God
,
4and He will iwipe away every tear from their eyes; and jthere will no longer be any death; kthere will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; lthe first things have passed away.”

5 And mHe who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am nmaking all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for othese words are faithful and true.” 6Then He said to me, “

9 abThen one of the seven angels who had the acseven bowls,
Lit who were full; i.e., (previously) loaded with
full of the aeseven last plagues, came and spoke with me, saying, “ afCome here, I will show you the agbride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The New Jerusalem

10 And ahhe carried me away

arwith twelve asgates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on the gates, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.
13There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14And the wall of the city had attwelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the autwelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one who spoke with me had a

gold measuring awrod to measure the city, its axgates, and its wall.
16The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the

Possibly about 1,380 miles or 2,220 km; a Roman stadion perhaps averaged 607 ft. or 185 m
twelve thousand stadia; its length, width, and height are equal.
17And he measured its wall,
Possibly about 216 ft. or 65 m; a cubit is about 18 in. or 45 cm
144 cubits, by bbhuman

measurements, which are also bdangelic measurements.
18The material of the wall was bejasper; and the city was bfpure gold, like

19 biThe foundation stones of the city wall were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was bjjasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, bkemerald; 20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, blsardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21And the twelve bmgates were twelve bnpearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was bopure gold, like transparent bpglass.

22 I saw bqno

23And the city bvhas no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for bwthe glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the bxLamb. 24 byThe nations will walk by its light, and the bzkings of the earth

25In the daytime (for cbthere will be no night there) ccits gates cdwill never be closed; 26and cethey will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27and cfnothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those

whose names are chwritten in the Lamb’s book of life.
